D wasn't' really there to stand for Dodge. It was to identify the platform:Interesting to note, then Fargo label its truck as the D-100 instead of F-100 and F for Fargo. Had they label it as F-100, that would had made Ford angry..
D100 (2wd pickup on "D" platform).
W100 (4wd version of the D pickup platform).
B100 or A100 (vans on the B or A platform).
