Hi guys... I hope someone can help answer this. I recently bought a 1976 Plymouth Scamp for my 16 yr old son. The car has a 226 slant 6 in it but I found a 1968 318 and tranny that I wanna swap for. Will it fit in the Scamp or will I have to do a bunch of retro fitting??? I'm just a shadetree mechanic but I do have access to the necessary tools. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... THANX!!!

Front subframe is wrong. I don't remember off-hand if someone makes a bolt-in replacement motor mount to make it work, or if you'll have to cut the old motor mounts and weld-in new ones, or else replace the entire front subframe entirely.

Another problem is that the small block V8 weighs more than the slant six, so you'll probably need better torsion bars. You also may not have good enough brakes, so you might be best off finding a junked four-door V8 car as a front subframe, suspension, and brakes donor.
