Funny then they compared the Omni/Horizon right to a Cavalier/J-2000 instead of the Chevette/Acadian later known as T-1000. The Acadian was only sold in Canada.

A light duty truck for the American market with a 4cyl that DIDNT look like a rebaged fiat would be cool. Bring back the Ram 50s if the Dakota is really dead.

Dakota would have been Ram 90 or so, I think, when it launched. (It ended up as equivalent of Ram 1450 ....) Ram 1200 is bigger than Ram 50, I think - it's nearly Dakota sized. That's what they plan to replace, anyway, the Mitsu L200.

While the EPA test at the time was optimistic and not real-world (driven on dynamometer with no wind resistance), I have heard of Reliant owners with 5-speeds getting that kind of mileage (speed limit was 55 mph then). And with my 85 Daytona TBI I was getting 34-37 mpg highway.

The Miser Omni had no seats, mirrors, seatbelts, air filter, brakes only in the front AND had wheels made of cardboard. Hence the high mileage !!!

It did have torque. it was really a pretty efficient engine, too. Funny to see the Trans Am figures. I had a 305 Camaro and it was outrun by Volkswagen Rabbits and the Honda Civic Si, 0-40... easily outpaced by the Civic Si 0-70. (Clobbered the Rabbit after 40 mph or so.) But I could laugh at Ford Escorts.

Had 2 adults and 2 kids with luggage in back.
