My 91 Chrysler New Yorker Salon is having headlight issues. When I pull the headlight knob, my headlights and doors do not open. If I pull the knob and pull the lever for high beams, the doors open with no headlights. If I pull and hold in the high beam lever, I get headlights only til I release the lever. In 2 of the times this happened, The lights finally came on about 15 minutes later. I don't know where to start looking. Thanks for any ideas. Tina.g

It is very common for the headlight door motors to get weak and not open until you flip the lights on and off a few times. But the whole problem could be the headlight switch as mentioned above. Or the dimmer switch combined with a bad headlight motor. You should be able to manually open the headlight doors with a knob on the end of the headlight door motor.

Welcome to Allpar. If 1992 is the same as 1991, some service manual information is here. Your New Yorker is an AC-body. Go to p. 8L-28 for the Concealed Headlamp section:

The rest of the service manual chapters are here:

A table of contents that can be used for the chapters is here:

Chapter 8W is the wiring diagrams. 8L is for the lamps. 8E is for the Instrument panel.
