Allpar’s Karl3 spoke with a Fiat employee last week who said that there will be no next-generation Chrysler 200 Convertible. The car has been a slow seller, as was the Chrysler Sebring Convertible after the last redesign, which saw long-standing American supplier ASC ejected in favor of Karmann. The change appeared to be disastrous for the 200; while it gained a hard convertible top, it also picked up a reputation for being finicky and unreliable, dropping from the top of magazine rankings down to the bottom.

Chrysler Sebring Convertible had been America’s best-selling ragtop for years, and bested Toyota’s Solara convertible in various rankings, including those of  Consumer Reports.

The next generation 200 will also not go to Europe as the Lancia Flavia, according to this source. With no station wagon or hatchback, no convertible, and depressed car sales in Italy, Flavia would not have enough sales to justify the engineering costs, including a diesel engine.
