2004 neon cam endplay

Rebuilding a 2004 neon 2.0 SOHC. Installed cam in head and endplay seems excessive. Car was running before teardown. Had burnt valve #3 cyl. Cannot find specs or clear drawings for cam installation (parts breakdown) or procedure to check endplay. I would think endplay should be less than 0.010 inch. Do not want to install head without checking properly. Thanks in advance!

You probably should have a good service manual handy for an engine rebuild. At least for torques, measurements, procedures and pictures.
The cam end-play should be .005"-.013". This is with the cam sensor installed as it also serves as a rearward cam thrust surface.
