Transmissions and transfer cases

Both New Venture transfer cases have an electronically controlled clutch-pack torque transfer type center differential, and a front-rear torque split of 48/52.

The single-speed NV140 is included with the V6 and has full time four wheel drive.

The two-speed, electronically shifted NV245 is included with V8s. The low range ratio is 2.72. Operating modes are 4x4 low (lock), neutral, and full-time active 4x4.

Production

The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was produced at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, starting in the third quarter of 2004. Assembly for markets outside North America began in the first quarter of 2005 at the Magna Steyr assembly plant in Graz, Austria.
