I think that the Xenon is mostly 'marketing' over Halogen. You still have a filament lamp and not a true HID lamp system.
Going to a true Xenon HID lamp system would be expensive. Many claims for bulb brightness/pattern advantages are overblown as they still have to meet NHTSA and DOT standards. You should be fine with standard long-life bulbs as long as your headlamp lenses are still clear and aimed correctly and not fogged or yellowed.
