2010 Dodge Road Show Hits Texas

story and photos by Bill Cawthon

The two-car Dodge Road Show makes its last stop today at SMS Supercars in Corona, California. The trip began at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan on November 14 and Scott Vanderkerckhove and Heather Heughens have spent the last six weeks driving a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 and a 2011 Dodge Charger R/T around the country, stopping to visit 27 enthusiast groups, speed shops and Dodge dealers in Pennsylvania, New York, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California.

Allpar caught up with Scott and Heather during their visit to the Houston, Texas, area. The team appeared at two locations west of Houston, Allen Samuels Dodge in Katy and Hennessey Performance in Sealy. We found them at Allen Samuels Dodge where they joined the members of Space City LX, the Houston-area Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Challenger & Jeep SRT Club in putting on an impressive display of Mopar Muscle, both modern and classic.

It was a blustery, gray afternoon, but everyone was having a good time checking out the Challenger SRT8 392 and the bright red Charger and showing off their own cars. Nearly every hood was raised to show off the big engine nestled underneath and every so often, someone would fire up an engine so we could all listen to the unmistakeable music of a Chrysler V8. There's nothing like it.

In spite of their demanding schedule, both Scott and Heather were upbeat and excited about the road show. Heather said they have found an enthusiastic welcome everywhere they have stopped.
