Ohhh man, I just found a chip in my windshield this morning as I was cleaning it and putting gas in at the local Murphy station. Now, I'm not the only one that drives the car and can't remember anything happening in the past few days, but a couple of weeks ago when the wife and I were traveling to a doctors appointment for her, a gravel truck was traveling north and were were heading south. As it went by, I heard a tap on the glass like a rock hitting it, but never spotted a nick at all. I just wonder if that was the start of it? My son nor wife have ever mentioned anything hitting the windshield, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't have happened. Got an appointment tomorrow morning at 8:30 with Jack Morris Glass to see if they can repair it or if I'm going to need a new windshield. I'm not happy about it, but he said forty bucks if he can fix it. Lots cheaper than a new one, I'm sure. I didn't even ask about that! I'm bummed, but on my trip back and forth to Nashville today, I got 31.8 mpg. And that was traveling between 70 and 75 on I-40. Got 8,600 miles on it now and the oil change reminder still hasn't shown up. I make go ahead and take it to the dealership Friday and let them change it and check the brakes. Sounds like the right front one is squealing from time to time and I don't like it one bit. Got the warranty, might as well take advantage of it, right? I'm also going to have them rotate and balance the tires.

I'll check that out tomorrow morning, Ron. Bob, I think MA has better insurance laws than we do here in TN! Any of you guys deal with Liberty Mutual? That's who I've got my cars and home owners with.

Talked to my agent this morning and I have a $250 deductible. Soooooo, I went to Jack Morris Glass and got the chip repaired for $40 plus tax. Total $43.90. As long as I own it, the repair is guaranteed. It still shows a few little cracks, but is guaranteed never to get larger. I can live with it, since it's not directly in my line of sight. It's just above the windshield wiper on the drivers side. Now, it's barely noticeable. I'm happy with the repair for now. Time will tell the tale.

So, Doug, since Liberty Mutual tried to jack your rates up, who do you insure with now?

That's what Ameriprise did to me. I had homeowners and 2 autos with them and they tried "jacking up" my rates because I'd had 2 claims on the homeowners policy. I told the that's the whole reason to have insurance. So when you need it, you use it. The disagreed and then when they found out I was not renewing and had gone over to LM, they tried their best to get me back at a "reasonable" rate. They were going to be $12 per YEAR cheaper than LM. Since this is a family friendly forum, I won't repeat what I told the "agent from another country", but I don't think he could physically do that anyway! LOL
