The reviewer thinks the GT's direct competitor is the Civic Si and the VW GTI. When I read that all credit was lost. It's not meant to go against those vehicles. Compare it to a Focus Titanium or a Cruze LTZ.
The Dart GT has more in common with a Civic Si than it does the Focus Titanium. Dart Limited = Focus Titanium, but that's not a fair fight for the Dart either.

The Dart isn't a strong competitor in any segment, it needs work.

The 9-speed should help if it ever makes it to the Dart. I think they need a new 4-banger and I don't think either side of the company has one suited to the Dart.
The 9-speed would help but not enough if its only netting the 2.4L 200 35MPG. True about it needing a new 4 banger, I am sure Alfa Romeo has something they could use...it's a wonder why they haven't yet? Italy has all this capacity and here's something we could use....they can definitely afford it now.

Would that be an affordable engine? Maybe the engine block would be if mass produced.
I am sure the price of any Alfa engine can come down when it becomes common is every 4cyl Chrysler group vehicle. They did it with the 1.4T....

Heck, even a larger version of that would be great, a 2.2-2.5 turbo.

I really dont think that transmission speeds are the problem. Hook any trans up to any 2.0 or 2.4 and it will still be a mediocre driving experience. The Tigersharks (World) are just not in the same class for NVH as almost any other engine in the competition. The engines sound like crap (the newer ones are quieter but they still sound BAD) when revved and that is where they make their power. I think all of the money spent on the Hellcat is an incredible waste of money and time.......a lot of money for a low production engine that could have been better spent on starting on a new 4. Like it or not, its fours that are the most important engines for the future. Hell, the new 3 cyl Ford EB is getting incredible reviews because of how smooth it is without balance shafts. The Fiesta ST with the EB 1.6 has almost 200hp and 202tq (91 octane). The Spark has a turbo engine as well...Everybody has more choices or better 4s (by better I mean NVH) than Chrysler does now.

Yes, yes, I know that the Hellcat is a "halo" engine for the Challenger to compete against the SVT 5.8 but with money so tight and about to get tighter as Fiat drains away money for its self, it was a poor choice.
You are right, but Fiat is supposed to be the fuel efficiency and small car experts, so all 4cylinder stuff should be coming from them. Hemi and Pentastar stuff should be coming through Chrysler.

The fact they are using any Chrysler designed 4 bangers still (in brand new cars!) is pretty messed up IMO

A turbo 2.0 seems to be the flavor of the day, the German are all using them, VW/Merc/BMW/Audi, as well as Mitsu and Subaru even Ford.

Power output is in the 250-355hp range, and a turbo Dart R/T with even 265-285hp would be a really competitive sport compact car. I still hope they release a Hurricane equipped Dart, and eventually an SRT with something hotter.
A Chrysler 200 SRT with rear bias AWD and a nice round 400 underrated HP from a 3.6L with a single turbo would be a much cooler car than a Dart SRT4 IMO. A car like that is going to turn more media heads than any Chrysler 300 will IMO.

Sell it for mid 30's and it WILL be a success.

Just Because its AWD doesnt mean its a Subaru/Mistu fighter. it could compete wit the CLA 45 AMG and Audi S4

yea its slightly Smaller compared to the 200 but with the AMG with 360hp and S4 with 333hp both AWD. it similar to a SRT 200
Wrong segments, the CLA is a C-seg S3/235i car.

The 200 SRT would be more of a Chrysler Audi S4, all wheel drive, boosted V6, nice appointments.

333 underrated HP that's closer to 360+

OR would SRT go full out with it like the RS4...450 HP

?Confused? Why would the C Segment 200 ( based upon the C-USW platform), not be a C segment competitor?
Ask Chrysler that makes D seg cars and calls them C seg.

Get out your tape measure...

2014 Chrysler 200 (cant find 2015 specs) 192" long
2014 Audi A4 185.2" long

When they sliced and diced CEVO they must have had a reason to continue calling it CUSW though (instead of DUSW), I'll give them that.

But why?

EDIT: Now I see, C= compact, not C-segment.

Makes sense.
