2015 Jeep Renegade specifications, comparisons, and safety features
Main 2015 Jeep Renegade page (with off-road specifications)
All Jeep Renegades are made in the massive Melfi plant in Italy; they are a conventional design, with transverse-mounted front engines and steel unibodies. The front suspension uses McPherson struts with coil springs, a flat front steel crossmember, high-strength steel lower control arms (double-shell for 4x4, single-sheel for FWD), and a stabilizer bar. In rear, a steel cradle (isolated with AWD, but not with FWD) holds Chapman struts, high-strength steel links, coil springs, and a stabilizer bar.
Number are still preliminary. In the past, there have been errors in Chrysler specification tables.
Engines
Fiat engines have cast iron blocks with aluminum heads; Chrysler 2.4 engines (including the EtorQ) use high-pressure die-cast aluminum blocks and heads.
For details on the nine-speed (used by the 1.4 turbo, 2.4, and 2.0 engines), see our nine-speed automatic transmission page.
