If you want to order a 2019 Dodge Challenger or Charger, you only have a few more days, as the order banks for the 2019 model year will officially close at end-of-business on Saturday, October 23rd, 2019. That is your last chance to order a car that is built to your tastes under the Dodge Power Dollars program, but if you are happy “settling” for a car on dealership inventory, you can save big money through the January 2, 2020.

Note - we previous reported that the 2019 order banks close on the 26th, but that was an error on my part. The correct date for the end of 2019 Challenger and Charger orders is the 23rd. My apologies for the mistake!

Dodge announced the “Power Dollars” discount program earlier this year, which awards buyers $10 per horsepower on a Challenger, Charger or Durango. In other words, you can save up to $7,970 on a Challenger, $7,070 on a Charger and $4,850 on a Durango, with smaller discounts for the less-powerful models of each vehicle. This program was initially introduced in early August with no set date for the program to end, but information in Dodge commercials and on the Dodge website stated that the program ended at the end of August and then the end of September.

All along, Dodge representatives confirmed to me that the plan was for the program to run through the end of the calendar year, but there had never been an official end date until the Dodge brand announced the success of the program this morning. According to this statement, the brand reached its goal of 500-million horsepower’s-worth of Dodge vehicles being sold, but we don’t have a breakdown of how that number was reached. We imagine that it is the power levels of every Durango, Challenger and Charger sold before the end of 2019, but we don’t know when the sales period began.

“‘Dodge Power Dollars’ has more than exceeded our expectations, giving a huge boost to Dodge performance across the country and helping us reach our goal of putting a half billion horsepower into the hands of our loyal enthusiast by the end of the year,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “These Dodge muscle cars are attracting a new generation of shoppers who are drawn to the performance, attitude and personality of the Dodge brand – a brand that continues to differentiate itself within the car segment. This is the golden age of muscle cars."

However, while Dodge has reached its half-billion horsepower goal, they aren’t done offering discounts on high performance machines just yet. As part of the statement, Dodge announced that the Power Dollars promotion will continue until January 2, 2020, and any vehicle purchased by to that date is subject to the big discount.

More importantly, there is still time to order a 2019 Challenger and Charger that will arrive by the end of the year, so you can still get a car that is built to your ideal specifications with the big discount, but you cant wait long. According to Dodge, the order banks for the 2019 Challenger and Charger will close on October 23rd , 2019, so you have to order by then to get a car build to your tastes under the Power Dollars discount. However, we do want to point out that the Power Dollars discount does not apply to the 2020 Charger, so you can’t score a new widebody sedan on the cheap.

At the same time, if you don’t order before this Saturday, you can still buy a new Dodge Challenger, Charger or Durango anytime in 2019 to get the Power Dollars discount, provided that you can find the right vehicle in dealership inventory.

The bottom line here is that the last chance to order a 2019 Challenger or Charger with the options that you want ends this week, but the Power Dollars discount continues until the beginning of 2020.
