I haven't been interested in looking at a Frontier in years. This looks like a solid redesign. Likely won't unseat the Tacoma, but could make the race for second and third place more interesting.

The new and revamped 2022 Nissan Frontier is here and ready to rock the boat in the midsize pickup segment. It brings eye-catching styling, a new V6 engine (that actually debuted in the old truck) and all the updated tech amenities you’d expect to find in a brand new truck today.

Let’s start with design, because this truck sure is a looker. There’s no light evolution going on here. This is a full-on revolution, and Nissan killed it. The PRO-4X off-road model you’re looking at here has some resemblance to a Tacoma TRD product, but it’s still safely Nissan’s truck. Designers say they were inspired by the “rough and rugged” Hardbody of the 1980s and 1990s. It’s no retro copycat, but the idea is there in its high shouldered fenders, tall face and flat hood. Any indication of friendliness is gone, and that was the intention....

Frontier was the the oldest pickup being sold in North America. It was way overdue for replacement and Nissan seems to have done a good job. Nissan interiors are very nice and their exterior styling is compelling for many people.

The new Pathfinder was introduced as well. They dropped the CVT and went with a more boxy look. The Pathfinder can now take a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood with the second and third rows folded down. Impressive utility.

Designed specifically for the North American market, and is split off from the historical Datsun/Nissan Pickup Truck line that began in the 1930's before WWII, had included over time the 720 and D21 (sold in North American Market as the Hardbody), and the Navarra; and had also birthed the Terrano/Pathfinder in 1986.

They did a pretty nice job on the redesign and with a 300 HP plus brand new V6 it could give some competition to the segment .. Once again FCA late to the party in this area . Nissan is getting smarter too
on their new redesigned Pathfinder they finally ditched the CVT and went back to a standard 9 speed auto . Wonder if they will go back to conventional transmissions in their other vehicles .

And they got rid of the CVT and went to a 9 speed in the Pathfinder . Maybe they are starting to listen to the customers .

The Pathfinder is particularly impressive given its just on a refreshed version of its current platform. The 9-speed on the Frontier is a 9-speed left over from Nissan's partnership with Mercedes while the Pathfinder's is none other than the ZF 9-speed. Will be interesting to see how Nissan's programming ends up.

The Pathfinder really is impressive. I never would have guessed it is on the same platform without being told. This update ours the Pathfinder on the list as a candidate to replace our Grand Caravan. Wouldn't have considered the Pathfinder before because of the CVT. Not sure which way we'll go, because anything other than a Ford, GM, or Mopar will involve a 45-60 minute drive to a dealer, and a Mopar will involve a 45-60 minute drive to a dealer with a decent service department.

We’ve been looking at different vehicles to replace my wife’s Encore in a few years. It’s funny how we have crossed off certain vehicles/brands because of where the dealership is located. Lol. If they’re up in Wilmington or on 202, they we cross them right the heck off the list.

I drive a lot, and I don’t mind it, but I HATE driving in Wilmington or on 202.
