We know that minivans are great for people who have kids, but some people question their usefulness beyond the “soccer mom/dad stereotype. I recently spent time with the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle AWD and I used it for a short road trip to a Pantera concert, during which time the minivan proved to be a ... Read more

Minivans are useful, the only vehicle that 90% of vehicle buyers really need.
Indeed.

We loved our '00 T&C Ltd AWD. It predated stow-n-go but with 4 children (2 teens & 2 elementary aged) it was perfect. When the older ones moved on, I traded the van for a Journey. Within a few months I regretted that decision.

The seats could be removed though they were heavy. Wife wasn't happy when I used the van to transport my riding mower. With a 38" deck it just barely fit. Not long after I bought my '06 Dodge Ram 1500.

I couldn't convince my oldest daughter who has 3 children to get a minivan. A few years back they bought a '17 Sorrento. It does seat 7, but cargo space is limited. She refused to be seen in a minivan - didn't want to be a "soccer mom". So, yeah, the stigma exists and is real.

"A couple people sat on the chairs and a couple of us sat on the edge of the rear door sill. It isn’t as comfortable as a tailgate, but it works just fine for a seat in that situation. " What tail gates is he talking about? They are almostb4 feet off the ground. IThe back of a chrysler minivan is the perfect height for sitting.

As far as a Chrysler-brand flagship goes, the Pinnacle fits nicely. Not a bad sticker price for what it presents.
I'm still waiting for new Chrysler product & hopefully, a sensible sedan.

I rented one to drive from Long Island NY to Montreal QC for the F1 race in June. A very pleasant long trip vehicle, we were able to put 2 bikes inside with all our other stuff. The only concern I had was the lack of a spare tire; don’t think it comes with the stow & go option. On a trip that long I want a real tire.

Honestly if I were a young un with 2-3 kids I’d buy one! As far as needing AWD I used to have 2 FWD Toyotas and with snow tires on all 4 they got thru all but the worst winter conditions….For the money spent the vans have the most room vs overall size.

I'm at over 3 years into ownership of my 2022 Pinnacle Hybrid and I LOOOOOOVE this vehicle. It's our daily driver in the city, and I've taken it on multiple extended (3000km+) road trips. It absolutely rocks. If something happened to this one, I would absolutely go out and buy another one.

There's literally no down side with this vehicle. No compromises to our lifestyle or how we are able to use it in our daily lives.

Nearly all of them, I'd think.
How many times have you seen someone driving an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrofoglio (sp?) or BMW M3 or Corvette like a little old lady on their way to church,a fter they've lost their glasses? I was following a Giulia that was doing 15 under the limit the other day on the one-lane double-yellow road. No hazards, fine visibility, just some dumbass who would have been much happier in a Corolla LE. I think 80% of sporty-car drivers would not notice if you replaced their chassis with that of a 1998 four-cylinder minivan.

When we were starting out with kids in the mid 80s we started with an 85 Aries wagon. We had that two years, and after adding another kid we bought an 87 Ram Wagon. It really was the most versatile and comfortable vehicle we had had at time. It was an LE model that was dark brown and beige in the center. My then wife didn’t like it much as she thought it was too big. So in 89 we bought a Grand Caravan. It was really a good compromise for us. So good in fact we bought another in 94.

I've had all sorts of vehicles with kids. At first it was two compact cars, adn it was really enough. I forget the order but I'm pretty sure we had a minivan for a while, and that was nice, but the PT Cruiser was really quite handy - it stored a crazy amount of gear for something with a footprint smaller than a Neon. A minivan is really handy to have, though.

Y'know, they COULD do a wacky paint job on the Pacifica, too.
What was the original Scooby-Doo van based on? And did it say Scooby-Doo on the side?

Thought so. It does look very random. Sure looks like an A-van in profile shape and headlight/parking-light placement but no big round thing in front. (More the one on the left.)
