This is probably an easy one. Is there a flexplate (automatic) for a 318 that has a ring gear. I am building a engine test stand and need a cheap way to engage the starter to the motor. I dont want to buy a flywheel. If there is a flexplate with a ring gear, what year? or better yet a part #?

Not to my knowledge, as Mopars put the starter ring gear on the torque converter.

How about using a junkyard used flywheel?

Don't make them, flywheel was an excellent idea. Since it is just to strart the engine, you could stick it on a lathe or have it resurfaced and shave it down quite a bit to lighten it, good tool in the toolbox if doing it often.

The other thing you could do is take an old torque converter and cut the balloon off it. It would be lighter and probably cost less than lightening a flywheel.
