Hi all I have 2 Ram 2500 diesels, a 2002 & a 2004. I think the '02 has the 46RE with the '04 having the 48RE. I have a transmission out of the '04 (48RE) can I use any of the parts from one to the other to make one good transmission. I'm curious about the torque converter ect. Any help, advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure that the '02 has a 47RE. Rebuild kits are not that pricey, and I would suggest new parts rather than swapping from a used tranny. For torque converter, ATS and others habve very good multidisc units. The stock diesel converters are poor quality. I definitely suggest a lockup controller from ATS, in Wheatridge, Colorado. I have their converter and controller, in operation without any issues for 12 years.

Ok thanks for the advice I thought my 02 was a 46RE sorry about that. Can I install the 48RE in the 02 instead of the 47RE?

Thanks
