I just rebuilt my 46re transmission for a 2001 ram 1500 with a 5.9 not long ago I started it yesterday to check if everything was working and I dont have reverse at all and when I put it in drive it rolls a foot or so then just stops it has 3 gallons of fluid in it everything is hooked up correctly to my knowledge any help or tips would be useful I can give you my number if that's allowed so you can talk me through what to look for like I said any help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you

Well, if you put 3 gallons of fluid in it, that's 12 quarts, and it's probably overfilled and foaming. They take 9-10 quarts after a rebuild.

But would that keep me from being able to have reverse or drive

Welcome to Allpar. Foamy ATF would show up on the dipstick. It could also cause pump whine similar to low power steering noises. It may be able to creep forwards and backwards.
Do you have flow through the cooler lines in neutral?
Check for line pressure at the accumulator port. If you back out the accumulator tap plug, ATF under pressure should push past the threads. You want about 50-100 psi here idle in Neutral (set the parking brake and chock the wheels).

It dosen't look like there is any foam on the dipstick it's all smooth no bubbles and thank you I'm going to try this tomorrow
