I'm thinking of purchasing a 61 Chrysler Windsor 2dr htp. It has bad rust on the drivers side rocker. Could this be detrimental to the structural integrity of the car?

Possibly. The rocker is an essential part of the unibody. it would need to be inspected pretty carefully then properly repaired.

If it's unibody, then, yes, it's structurally compromised. You may find a good restoration shop to weld in new metal.

Take a good magnet with you and inspect every panel. A magnet will not stick to bondo.
