Hello,
This is my first question here, I know this has been asked for before, and apparently given, but I just cannot find a picture or a complete description of the Radio cassette CD pin out?
I believe some of these 90's era radio units can be adapted to have an auxiliary output?
My unit has the 8 pin din connector on the back, which I am told there are two types, one that is quite dumb and another that actively communicates with the CD unit, if someone could show me the pinout of the earlier simpler connector, I will have a go at making a cable to a Bluetooth adaptor most likely.
I know it is easier to just put a new radio in its place, but I would like to keep this Jeep Tj as original as possible.
So if someone have got the pinout picture I would be very grateful.

Welcome to Allpar. Do you know which radio you have? 3 letters beginning with 'R'. It may be white print on the faceplate or on a paper chassis label.
I found this generic diagram. With a volt meter #1 & #2 should be 12v (+) with the key on. #5 & #8 should be earth.
Check this before plugging the unit in so-as not to damage it.

I have discerned the pinouts, but, that being said (a) there are two different 8 pin DIN layouts and (b) at least two variations of the power and audio pin assignments. Best way to identify is either the radio number or it's code (on the display face). I have an RBB AM/FM/Cassette with CD changer control and a 4 disc CD changer in my LeBaron convertible. It uses a DIN 8b pattern socket. I also have the mating Infinty 6 channel amplifier.

Hello the radio cassette unit has option for a cd changer, but I'm after a plug in aux unit to this 8 pin cd, it seems some versions are just a short somewhere and the unit accepts a changer is there and you can then connect to the left and right pins as an auxiliary input. Orhers have more interaction tbough and need a box to simulate a cd changer? I however can find nowhere where you can still get this box? Are the any suppliers in the us still? I'm in the uk, where jeep older bits are hard to find?

I checked the parts catalogs for various years & models and came up empty-handed.
There is a DIN extension cord that goes to the CD changer. I find no 'box' or 'shorting plug' offered.
If you know the Mopar part # of the 'box', I might be able to look it up.

Hello Dan,

wondering if you managed to test your idea for connecting to the 8 pin cd changer port. Did you succeeded? Is it working to input audio signal if you connect only to L / R / GND pins ??

I am with PT 2000 and my radio have round 8 pin connector on the back and CD changer option on front panel.

The RBL is made by Alpine for the European market.
The DIN, I believe is a universal pinout. I found this on the Alpine website:

I added Bluetooth to my 2003, works quite nicely. In my case the port required active communication.
Couldn't find the device I got but did find this place with various adapters for 90's era and 2000s Chrysler vehicles.

There are probably others and I have no experience with this site so not a recommendation of any sort.
Note that when I was looking for mine that there are different ports on these not all are pin arrangement shown.
You might want to do a visual inspection as well as getting exact radio model.

So I got the bluetooth adapter. I checked the pinouts..L and R Audio and Audio Ground seem correct. Bat and Ground seem correct. The Mbus, Bus Gnd, and ACC are unused. When I connected it the bluetooth connected to my phone, but the radio states "No CD". Am I missing something for things to work?

The RBL may automatically determine any DIN input to be a CD player. You may be able to trick it into thinking that a disc is present or use the cassette player as a Bluetooth audio input?

You said that the MBUS and BUS GND are unused by the adapter you have. If your radio is like mine then it requires the proper message on the mbus to enable the port. When enabled you get an additional option on the radio/CD selection.
Short of getting the right adapter ImperialCrown's suggestion is probably the best option.

You're exactly right. Unfortunately the $12 adapter is not going to work out. Bought another with the MBus signal. I'll be trying that one today.
