I was wondering is it safe to haul boats with a FWD like the 91 chrysler new yorker? I read in the manual the capacity is 2000 lbs towing, if I'm not mistaking. Are there any pre-cautions to take when doing that? Last thing I would want is to back it down a boat ramp and it slide back into the water. What a nightmare for anyone that would be. Are FWD's capable of hauling such? If so, what are the safety measures? Thanks for any advice!

As long as your transmission is in good shape and you don't exceed the weight limit in your owners manual, you should be okay. I'd change the fluid and filter with Mopar ATF+4 and add an external transmission cooler if it were me. Just to be safe.

The haynes service manual is the one that states those year vehicles were capable of hauling 2000 lbs. It did good with hauling a paddle boat, but you gotta figure that's light compared to what a 15-17 ft motor boat would be. Thanks for the tip! I'll try that out.
