Ok before and what I thought led me to doing the timing belt water pump and cam postion sensor is still happening. So before I did the tb ,wp and cps mom said she drove the car down to the store and it died on her when she pulled in. she cranked it back up after a few turn overs and it cranked but wiht a check engine light. it gave me a p0340 which is what led me to do the tb, wb, cps.

Now there have been a couple times mom said the car has died when coming to a stop, but she was able to crank it back up and it ran fine. I noticed this happen for the first time after I was pulling back up after the first drive from the replacements. The car shut off, the oil lamp light was on after it died. I cranked it up pulled up and saw that the car is idling 500-600 rpm. I'm not used to cars idling that low so I was thinking IAC but from the little digging I am finding that these cars idle this low?

I have saw mention of the oil pressure sending unit possibly being faulty.

I asked my mom if the car was doing the same thing on the dash when it had previously died and she said it she shuts off now indication on the dash but when it dies the oil lamp comes on and that is only does it when coming to a stop.

Any thoughts?

I’d consider the crank sensor, especially if the tach drops quickly right before it stalls.
Oil pressure issue is probably the sender getting old, but that won’t cause it to die.

An oil pressure light will come on after a stall (engine not turning). This is normal. It should not come on at idle or leak oil. Replace it if it does.

Not everything leaves behind a fault code. If you are still dealing with P0340 (no cam position sensor signal at PCM), that can cause a stall & needs to be solved.
Was this code & stalling present before the timing belt replacement?
