Here is a link to a picture of four of them together. The '39 has a wider cab than the '29. I would really like to see the insides of one of those front axles. I've found pictures of the outsides. After seeing that early Citroen FWD axle shaft with two cross and roller joints with a double Cardin joint between them, all in a self-centering cage, in the middle of the shaft; I wonder what else has been done before and whether it was problematic or just forgotten.

Likely it was problematic...for its time.
Metallurgy and lubrication science have come a long ways since then, allowing complicated parts to live much longer in extreme use situation.

I noticed that those Buda engines were inline sixes and that at least some of them had dual ignition. I remember some gas-engine highway busses from the 1940s having dual ignitions with two, separate, sources. One set of plugs were attached to a Kettering type ignition with battery, breaker points, coil, and distributor while the other set of plugs were connected to a magneto. If the plugs were in good condition the vehicle wasn't disabled (in the daytime anyway) if either the generator or magneto failed. I don't know whether Coleman trucks were set up that way.

With the emphasis upon Overlanding in the Outback, a KL review would be predictable, unless they pulled a lightweight trailer behind. Then it would get interesting.

I did glean a piece of interesting information from another Australian site: There have been 14 million Toyota HiLux pickups sold over the years and 700,000 of them were sold in Australia.

I'm sorry... I can't even come close to justifying $75,000USD for a 4x4 pickup truck that seats two, especially when a Wrangler Rubicon costs $30,000...

It would be total overkill for capacity. With the right bed even the lighter duty version could carry the Wrangler Rubicon on its back up the same hill. It just wouldn't go real fast.

If I had the coins I'm not sure I would find the NVH acceptable from eastern Nebraska to central Colorado. Fuel consumption wasn't all that bad.

Ironic that while Fiat works to kill coil-link and solid axles on Jeeps, they still have antiquated leaf springs and solid axles on their own vehicles...

The leaf springs on the heavier-duty model looked kind of like the leaf springs on narrow-gauge steam locomotives.

I suspect it rides about the same as my 1971 D-300 did. It rode better with a ton or two of ballast in the bed.

Sweptline's rode pretty smooth, until one encountered a tall obstacle, such as the painted stripe on the road... ;)

Mine was a fleetside with a 9ft bed. I didn't have dual rear wheels but had the axle and brakes for them.
