Hey Everyone, long time since been on here.

My AC wont shut off, the AC enable switch on the dash and the recycle switch next to it dont light anymore. Also, the rear wiper stops working. The vent selector switch sometimes doesnt work, or changes by itself to defrost. I pulled the AC Cluctch Relay from the long panel on the drivers side, under hood.

It stops the AC from working, and the dash engage lights come back on, but they dont do anything. Vent selector switch works again. Rear wiper still wont work. Its the 5 prong cube relay with 3 flat prongs going one way, 2 others facing another.

Question: Anyone have any idea if I can replace this relay from a 2000 Ply GV 3.3 gas with the one from my 97 Ply GV SE 3.0 gas? The printed numbers are all different, but that could be manufacturers markings not related to usage. Im afraid to blow some electrical stuff if its isnt compatible for some bizarre reason. Any experience with this?

OReillys has them for $16, but why spend when you dont have to. Beer= good. Relay=Bad

Thanks

Ok, odometer code reads 23/55 alternateing. I assume 55 means "end", just like key dance between 12-55.

Of the left 3 buttons on the HVAC dash, top to bottom, I pressed the top and bottom for 5 seconds, then all HVAC lights illuminated, then went out except the top and middle lights - they blinked alternateingly for about 30-45 sec, then went out.

AC is still ON all the time and is NOT cycling, and now it blows thru the Defrost and not the Panel. This has been a symptom that changes erradically, from Panel to Defrost that is.

Swapped out the AC Clutch relay and no change.

Could the "23 Blend door feedback control" error be causing all this? Hoping to avoid that if possible. haha Saw your other posts about that.

Does bad return voltage get fixed with replacement of the actuator motor? Do I understand that right?

Thanks

Wow, just performed the cooldown test and now is doesnt blow AC cool, but its hot! But I think the AC compressor is engaged, also. Amazing Haha

Thanks for the time. After resetting the battery for about 30 minutes, I tried the cooldown test and it started up, the ACand recycle buttons alternated for about 15 seconds then went dark, and now it blows only AC. Cant change temp, cant change to defrost or anything else. Just stays stuck on Panel.

Do you have to do an OBD test to get the HVAC codes?

Somehow, when I did the cooldown test the first time it vented HOT, now its back to where it started.

I tried to replace the HVAC dash panel with the one from my 1997 Ply GV 3.0 into this GV 3.3, but one connector had a different molded plastic rib that did NOT slide into the same place as the 2000 model. Pins are all the same, and could not fit unless I shaved the plastic "rib" down so it would fit. Somehow that doesnt seem to be a good idea. Hahaha! @#$%^&@#$%^&

The biggest concern I have immeadiately is whether the AC compressor is cycling or not. Dont want to burn the compressor out. I can take the relay out when its not so hot here.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks Valiant67 -

Well, it has failed the cool-down test once. But not sure what that means or what to do now. Is this a BCM thing or the screwy servos on the vent doors sending bad talk-back voltage or a bad capacitor in the HVAC dash module.

To make sure I understand - the cool-down test needs to be done once the AC has been ON and been cooling, right? This must be checking a thermostat/thermometer in the evaporator, right?

The recaliber/diagnostic test has always been good. At the very least, gonna try and find another HVAC dash panel to swap out.

Thanks

Left the battrey disconnected for over 30 minutes. Put the AC Clutch relay back in. Started van. Took 10 seconds, then the AC kicked in and all the switches on the HVAC dash went inoperable. No vent selector, no rear wiper, no AC on/off, no recycle. Only front and back fans work and can be adjusted.

Gotta be the circuitry in the HVAC dash panel or a BCM problem. 2 different AC clutch relays stuck closed can not be the problem. Especially when it takes 10 seconds for the AC to engage.

Thanks Imperial - I assumed cool-down meant getting warmer - its a cool-up test. haha

Thanks All
