The numbers show that, while Ford has been garnering laurels for fuel efficiency, Ram is now meeting or beating the lead seller of pickups, even without the forthcoming VM diesel option (which we expect to easily trump the Ford turbo-six option in fuel..

After coming back from a trip to Reno from Sacramento last month in our 07 Turbo PT where I blew away a ton of Rams and F150s as we climbed higher and higher.....I would take the Eco-Boost every time if I lived in the mountains or traveled in them while towing.

Diesel everytime baby! An Eco-boost may match a diesel in torque/hp, but the diesel will get far better fuel mileage while towing.

I wish they would announce the transmission and fuel mileage for the VM3.0L and date for it to hit the dealerships. Plus examples to hit the car magazines.

The transmission for the VM 3.0 is going to be the 8 speed. The stronger version rated for 520 torque same as they use behind the Hemi. EPA ratings on the VM 3.0 in the Ram may be a year off IMO. I bet Ram will tune hard to get 30 hwy in the 4x2. We just now got the EPA on the 2013 Hemi TF8.

I bet we don't see the VM 3.0 in Rams on dealership lots before April.

I wouldn't be shocked if the 1500 diesel hits 30 mpg, after all GC is at 30 and it's not light years ahead of Dodge Ram in weight or aero. It's likely a solid 29 mpg and they are trying like crazy with tuning and gears to make it the first 30 mpg full sized, that would be a huge marketing win.

If it doesn't make "30 mph" nobody will buy it.

I was looking at a Promaster diesel as my next work vehicle but once I played with the configurator I kinda nixed that(almost 40k). Im kinda estimating the Ram 1500 Tradesman 4X4 regular cab long bed will be all I need for less coin and IMHO a better vehicle.im with norm here I wouldnt be surprised if the 2WD hits 30 MPG and IIRC didnt oh2o say at one point that was the "target". Im not up on my Ram news has anybody heard about the 8' box getting a Rambox option or if the chrome package will return for the tradesman?
