Only one engine for NA? At least it's the 2.4 (Tigershark I presume?). Wish we would get at least one diesel. Hopefully a manual transmission will also be available. Looking forward to Geneva.

If 100 have been made for testing, it is amazing that with all the phone/camera things around, no pictures have made it to the outside world.

After the little Cherokee gaffe... I don't blame them for camo-ing the inside ones too...

Ok. But the boys from Quattroruote must be whispering that a few euro would be available for the right picture.

And still nothing.

Production it is said that will start in april, other people say june, the assembly line parts are under test in these weeks.

July 4 is rumored to be a possible date for showing Fiat 500X (the Nuova Fiat 500 was showed first time 4 july 1957, the actual 500 the 4 july 2007), or for Jeep B-SUV start selling date.

Other rumors are about a visit to Melfi plant by some FCA top managers next week.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the World Engine minus the Tigershark turbo upgrades.

Price would be the deciding factor.

Seems like marketing is finally seeing the light. They have finally made a sensible decision right off the bat, with the 2.4 as the base engine, instead of the 1.4L. I know, it was unlikely, but not impossible.
Good to hear that the 1.4 is for Europe, and the 2.4 for the US. That's the way it should be. Finally.

Except for the three dozen or so that have surfaced this week.

The 2.4 is indeed the World Engine, what would make you think differently?

I meant that it should be the same 2.4 that the Cherokee has, not the 2.4 the twins currently have. If not that's pretty disappointing.

It is, but the Tigershark is also more expensive than the world engine.

This B-seg vehicle has to be less expensive than Cherokee. 14,000 English pounds is pretty low for a new B seg crossover, less actually than the 500L base costs in the UK.

Fuel economy needs to be better than Cherokee regardless, though. The 9-speed will help with both FE and power delivery over the CVT and 6-speed. It's smaller and lighter so it should be quicker than Compatriot. I would question, though, whether fuel economy will rise enough. I would hope at least 24 mpg city/highway combined with the off-road package, 27-28 mpg combined without?

Not sure about anyone else, but my job (and my respect and ethics) are worth much more than a few euro.

The engine should be a Tigershark engine, since the exhaust is forward (the opposite in the WGE) as in the FIAT diesel/gasoline engines (it is easier to add the turbines).
I don't think a 2.4 tigershark is more ecpensive than a FPT 2.0 turbo diesel engine.

Correct, it's actually less expensive IIRC.
I also agree entirely with your WGE vs tigershark assessment.

Have they picked a name for the B-Jeep yet? I know I've been kind of negative about this car in the past, but I’m trying to be better. What do you guys think of Jeep Liberator, bringing Jeep freedom to go anywhere to the world.

I would think they do indeed have the name by now - Geneva is very close. I would think the name would be something evocative of Jeep's current theme of adventure and being free in spirit. "Liberator" is way too close to "Liberty", which already was passed over for non-NAFTA markets.

I was under the impression they were phasing out the non-Tigershark I4s since they got worse fuel economy. None of the other new vehicles use the old version.

I really need to stop talking off the cuff with technical matters.
