Chrysler Group assembly plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico built 216,758 cars and light trucks last month, a 12.6% increase over April 2012. However, significant declines in production of the slow-selling Chrysler 300, the Fiat 500 and the Jeep Patriot, combined with the production losses caused by the discontinued Jeep Liberty and Volkswagen Routan left the year-to-date (YTD) output 1.4% short of the first four months of 2012. All three NAFTA regions reported increased production for April but only the U.S. is also up on a YTD basis (+2.4%). Canada (-6.8%) and Mexico (-7.5%) trail 2012's January-April period. Total production numbers were also up 4.2% compared to March 2013, thanks to a 9.8% increase in truck output that covered an 8.2% reduction in passenger crs. Dodge and Ram divisions enjoyed increased production, with volumes rising 30.4% and 38.5%, respectively, while output dropped at the Chrysler, Fiat and Jeep brands...
