At my job alone, there were 3 new Tacoma's purchased for personal use. The common compliment I heard was how it fits in the garage and has 4 doors, but doesn't slack in fuel or performance. The Tacoma is a great looking truck, but I would prefer a Jeep truck overall. I have the RAM 1500 sitting in my driveway right now and a Dakota. I prefer the Dakota size since I don't seat more than 4 full sized passengers on my commute to work (25+ miles each way). Having been an owner of previous Jeep products, I enjoy the Jeep more than I do the RAM. And have always wanted a 4 door Jeep truck, similar to that what AEV makes, but with about a 6 inch shorter bed. But would greatly appreciate a new Dakota if need be. But as always it's only a dream with this company.

My ideal garage would be:

Me: Jeep 4 door truck 4x4
Wife: Jeep Wrangler or Wrangler Unlimited or Mid-Size RAM based truck.
Weekend life: A new Barracuda

I always thought the same gen but the extended cab 4X4 Sport with the red paint was probably one of the best looking trucks made. So sad to not have the Dakota anymore.

Don't get me wrong, we had an '04 extended cab after our '98 regular cab, but I don't like 2 door vehicles, plus, who is kidding who when they put 6 seat belts in those? LOL. I had 5 people in ours a few times and that was too much, nevermind 6 people.

That market is down because the trucks got to big, to expensive, and to close to full sizers in mpg. They wanna revive it build a true rangersized truck and watch sales take off .
Exactly

Ford was making a real Ranger-size pickup, called Ranger, and it was selling poorly.

Yes, Cherokee based pickup is almost a done deal. I wonder if they will combine that with the metric ton, but I doubt it. The offroad capability will destroy gas mileage.
They never updated it. That's why nobody bought it at the end.
