The 2013 Dodge Dart GT is once again open for ordering. Essentially a Dart Limited with a tighter suspension, appearance package, and the all-important 2.4 liter TigerShark engine, Dart GT is thousands of dollars less expensive than the Dart R/T that was originally shown and planned. The car uses the same automatic and manual transmissions as the base Darts with the 2-liter Chrysler engine. While Reid Bigland said that the 2014 models (expected to be substantially altered in terms of models and trim, but not in appearance or function) may have the 2.4 on models other than GT, they presumably would not have the GT’s revised suspension, which Ralph Gilles said made the Dart feel similar to SRT8 cars. The 2.0 and 2.4 were originally a joint design with Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Mercedes; the Chrysler implementation was slammed by critics as being peaky and noisy. The 2.0 has been somewhat..

This is a GT? The 2.4 liter engine produces, what? 184 HP? Still not nearly enough.

It's too bad that Dodge created such a cool looking car but it has no guts. I am sure the Ford guys are laughing at this "GT" when their Focus ST has a 2 liter engine that produces 256 HP. No contest.

The Focus has less stiff than the Dart and starts $3,000 more.

Chrysler is working on turbo four cylinders (not talking about the FIAT 1.4L Turbo), but they take time.

It's what Dodge said it would have when they announced it. Not nearly enough for what, exactly?

Have you driven one yet? If not, then how can you even make such a statement? Numbers on paper are just that - great for armchair racing and Internet arguments, but not a replacement for real-world experience.

Who ever said the Dart GT was intended to match up directly against the Focus ST? Apples and oranges.

This isnt a competitor of the ST. Nobody said that it was. Where are you getting that from?
