In a qualifying session where the top eight driver times were separated by less than a tenth of a second, team Ferrari drivers qualified fifth and sixth for Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix running at Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona. Spaniard Fernando Alonso qualified fifth with a time of 1 minute, 21.218 seconds, with Felipe Massa of Brazil just 0.001 seconds behind at 1 minute 21.219 seconds. Though he qualified sixth, Massa will start tomorrow's race in the ninth spot on the grid. Massa and Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez were handed three-place grid penalties by the Spanish stewards for impeding during Saturday’s qualifying session. After review, race stewards said Massa had blocked Mark Webber of the Red Bull team during the second qualifying session.
