Chrysler Group will recall around 181,000 2012-2013 Jeep Wranglers to prevent premature wear to a transmission oil cooler line caused by rubbing against a power steering component. Discovered during routine testing, the fault has apparently not caused any accidents. A new power steering part will be installed, and if there are any signs of damage, the transmission oil cooler line will be given a protective sleeve or replaced. In addition, the 2010-2012 Jeep Patriot and Compass are being recalled to upgrade software that controls seat belt pre-tensioners and side curtain airbags, because they might not activate during “slow-developing rollovers.” The company is, again, unaware of any complaints or injuries related to this. Chrysler has increased its number of voluntary recalls as it discovers problems during internal testing, or via warranty work. If there were any justice this would get picked up by all the newscasters who were excoriating Chrysler for turning down the GC recall request.

I have yet to see any media outlet make any attempt to portray a recall in any sort of positive light. Because of that, consumers immediately associate the word recall with "bad." Even when the recall involves inserting a corrected sheet of paper into an owners' manual.

Isn't this the truth! Most folks are quick to form an opinion with little or no *facts*.

This issue sounds familiar, like we had a similar recall a year or so ago.

Great they're doing "pre-emptive" recalls on these issues no consumer has reported but they still claim to not have the parts available to deal with the Ram 1500 pinion nut recall that's been hanging around for months.
