Looks aren't that important to a commercial utility vehicle, economy of operation and durability is. Any RV or passenger conversions may get dressed up a little, but I think that the first ones sold will test the waters of where the Sprinter commercial van left off.
Sprinter had a 100,000 mile warranty which helped to sell them, but I was basically disappointed in Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz) quality. The drivetrain was robust enough, but other stupid little things that weren't kept in stock kept breaking and factory service support was lacking. You can't really have downtime waiting for parts or service in a successful commercial vehicle.
I was at a Business Link dealer where Dodge Ram Commercial trucks were huge business for us. The ProMaster is a very welcome vehicle for those of us that have been without a comparable offering for too long.
