Ram topped American truck brands in J.D. Power’s 2013 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APPEAL) study, scoring well above Ford (as a brand), GMC, and Jeep. In the study, Ram was the top “non-premium” brand. Volkswagen, Mini, Buick, and Kia were the only other non-premium brands to score above the industry average. Porsche led the full list by a wide margin, scoring 884, followed by Audi, BMW, Land Rover, and Lexus. The bottom five brands were smart (grounding the list by ten points), Mitsubishi, Subaru, Jeep, and Toyota. Dodge, Chrysler, and Fiat had similar scores; all were below Hyundai, Honda, Ford, Nissan, and Chevrolet, but above Scion, Mazda, or Toyota.
