Wonder where this will be priced? to slot in above or below the JGC SRT? I mean yeah its bigger and has an extra row, but its also based on a Dodge and Jeep is supposed to be a premium nameplate, so i dont see how they could price it above the Jeep SRT? Any thoughts?

Also Id be interested to see what the wheels end up looking like? I really like the wheels on the 2011-2012 Jeep SRT's, I just think they need to add 2 more sets of spokes, so they look more like the Viper's wheels. Now that would be perfect for the SRT 'Rango!

The Durango isn't big enough to make any real headway in to the police market side of things... ESPECIALLY in the case of SWAT etc, outside of the front 2 seats everything else is too small. The Tahoe remains a much better choice.
I dont see how your argument about the Durango not being big enough holds any water, when the Durango and Explorer are pretty evenly matched for size and space, and the Explorer has been chosen as the new Crown Vic replacement for CHP ( see article: http://m.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2012/1205_ford_police_interceptor_utility_is_california_highway_patrols_next_cruiser/ ) , and as most CA law enforcement agencies follow what CHP chooses, probably the rest of the state. I have even seen MP's and K9 units on the Navy base I work at using them. So, if the Durango can achieve a pursuit rating and come in at or below Ford's bidding for law enforcement contracts, I think it would do great.

One sits 5 and the other 6 or 7 depending on model.
GC =189.8" long, 76.5" wide, 69.3" high. WB-114.8, weight 4470-5150 lbs
Durango = 199.8" long, 75.8 wide 70.9 high. WB-119.8" , weight base model to top model= 4756lbs, 4838lbs, 4905lbs, 5133 lbs
Is that really allot more mass in size? Looks to me the longer wheel base Durango would provide better stability at high speeds.
If they make a SRT Durango, I'd think they would dump the back seat and change the mid seats for safety snuggle bucket seats so the Durango would be a 4 seater. Thus reducing weight.
As a "future buyer" of this yet to exist SRT Durango, I WOULD want it to keep the 7 passenger seating as THAT is the whole point of it. If you make it a 4 or 5 passenger vehicle, you might as well not build it, since the JGC SRT already fulfills this purpose. I bout my current '12 Durango R/T because i need the 3rd row seating, otherwise I would have just gotten the Jeep SRT. None of the current "performance" SUV currently offer this capability...Cayenne Turbo and X5 M are both only offered in 2 row configurations. Im not saying Im going to take the thing to the track and haul [I should have my mouth washed out with soap for using such terms] with 6 kids in the backseat, but there are times when I gotta haul the brood around town and need the seat capacity while also at the same time being able to have a fun and capable vehicle i can track for play when i want to without the need for another vehicle. Besides, if they did make the SRT D a 5 seater it would directly competewith te Jeep which they would never do. When the New Durango came out in '11, they had the Heat trim level, which deleted the back seats and only seated 5. So I suppose, if they wanted to have the option, they could do that with the SRT and just make the back seat an option package, but like i said above, they wouldnt want something to take away from Jeep SRT sales, as that is where their bread and butter is. But I do feel there is a niche market for a performance 6-7 passenger SRT as No one else is really filling that right now. I know the Explorer Sport exists, but i dont really onaider that as an option since it is FWD biased platform and there is the Q7, but I dont think there is a "performance" edition i the Q7 that is sold stateside(though please correct me if im wrong).

Regardless, I would buy one if they built it, and I know several other Durango owners on the Durango forum i frequent that would as well. I just hope they find a way not to price it above the current Jeep SRT.

And also to add roof racks as an option :)
