For those who think that this seems terrible... Let me remind you of a couple really bad "stinkers" in the recent past...
For those affected by this, a list of past "stinkers" is irrelevant.

It is not a Mexico vs America issue. It is not, I believe, a workmanship issue.

I can see such a rumor being created by those who resent anything made outside the USA.

I don't think having five different engine families is a good option. It's far easier to have all your eggs in one basket, and watch that basket (as Puddin'head Wilson would say), than to try to test and track five different ones.
Double-edged sword.

Engines are designed by flawed humans. If the one engine in your basket is flawed, it can sink your company.

You'd hope that and I'd hope that but I don't think that's happening. I do think that they've got parts for all the backorders on the way, but that they're going regular freight rather than overnight. (I wonder what overnight costs would be on a thousand heads to different dealerships across the country?)
Send the heads to the staging areas and put them in the trunks of new cars going to the dealerships.

--or--

Bulk ship to regional managers who visit the dealers.

Maybe not practical, but all ideas must be on the table and all hands on deck!

Are you speaking hypothetically, or has a notification quietly gone out?
I believe he was talking about previous recall notifications.

But, I reiterate that the way in which this issue is handled may reflect on the company for a decade.....good or bad.

Why do the two newest posters have the most troublesome reports?

I might be smelling Denmark.

The reason for no explanation could be as simple as the problem is associated with a proprietary technology.

There is no way for design engineers to foresee every possibility in daily use. They try to cover as much as possible, but certain combinations will always occur that create unexpected consequences.

The key is to learn and move forward.

I am sure Bob can tell plenty of stories about such unforeseen incidents.

Also, this knowledge of specific problems needs to become part of your design process for the next generation. In essence, there should be about 100 years of such knowledge that must be accounted for......if it was passed on.

It is not as easy as many make it out to be.

WHAT! I'm reporting you to a moderator for inaccuracy, everyone knows I was only having my head examined!
That's right! They only SUGGESTED Norm have his head replaced, but Dave intervened as ALLPAR would be boring without his stock head!!!!!

If Chrysler is willing to pay for a loaner, I suspect some of the less honorable dealers are telling customers to use Enterprise. Then, that dealer submits a bogus invoice for rental reimbursement to Chrysler and pockets the cash.

As I see it today, Chrysler's primary issues are:

Chrysler Marketing having no clue about reality (including websites)
Dealer Network Experience
Delays, delays, delays (for whatever reason)
