A little off topic "HEMI" air raid siren. All the rage back in the day and used later by volunteer fire depts.chrysler hemi powered air raid siren - Bing video

I was in the Civil Defense police unit through the 1980's and into the 90's. I bid on one of those sirens when it was surplused out. I was looking for a crane to get it down and had another week to get it when one local political hack decided to have his department pull the tower over. I think he wanted it and destroyed it rather than let me have it.

In the early 90's, I had a 1954 Dodge Coronet with the 241 Red Ram Hemi. I replaced the oil bath air cleaner with an unsilenced paper air filter. It sounded mean when I'd kick the Powerflite transmission into passing gear.

Here's a tip if you have the Powerflite and want to change the fluid. Dexron automatic fluid is the same, just a little slicker. An old transmission mechanic told me it will replace it and work just fine. I drained the torque converter and everything else and let it drip for 2 days. Shifting was as smooth as anything I've ever had.
