Dodge Challenger GT AWD

Thanks for not posting links to other sites ;)

Key notes:
* Comes with Performance Pages - surprise! - and paddle shifters, sport mode
* Can shut off stability control entirely
* Lots of nice goodies in the package
* V6 (305 hp) and automatic only

Side note - 305 hp (net) beats many of the big muscle car engines of the 1960s though it can’t come close on torque (268 lb-ft). 1970 Challenger slant six was 150 hp gross, 100 net as I vaguely recall (I could be wrong) with about the same torque as today’s six.

Was on F-1 site reading about Rosberg's retirement and the 2017 engine rules, and in the side bar was a series of pix of 3 or 4 different SRT Hellcat AWDs with giant tires sticking out beyond the bodies. Giant; 9"+ on the front and 10-11" on the back. No flares, but they sure needed 'em. They are not a rumor, they exist. Will they be produced? Wide bodies and all? "Yes" to that would be a rumor. Are they bitchin'? Does a Bear . . .?

And if anybody read through the press release on the 2017 Hi-po offerings re the Charger and Challenger . . . was anybody else struck by how cool apparent side stripes looked on that black challenger (actually reflections of the center stripe). Like GTX stripes on steroids. Tone em down, just a bit and WOW! They'd really break up that vast expanse of sheet metal. What vast expanse? compare the shots of the Orig. orange '71 T/A and current (2017) green monster side by side.
The stock Monster would shred the 71 in any performance and comfort comparison (rode from Rhode Island to WashDC and back in a car precisely like that pictured (Bob Carman's T/A same color and all) in '73 right at the height of Watergate time. MAN. We only survived because we were young! Worst seats ever!
But how much more beautiful, and with how much more performance potential was the E body! No contest. Strap the 92 and six pot Brembos (with E-booger's steering gusseting) on the E-body, and see who rules.

If no one else has already said so, welcome to Allpar, Dr. Dave.

I still remember my ride home from Daytona spring break in 1990 in an AAR 'cuda - Moulin Rouge! The guy started out not wanting me to drive until he wore out around North Carolina and let me take over. As you've observed, there are certainly differences between old and new and as long as the laws of physics still apply, there are advantages performancewise on both sides. Which brings me to my point (and back on-topic): Own both. The old stuff because of history, performance and coolness and the new stuff because of the same reasons plus comfort/technology.

Just saw a commercial for the AWD Challenger on Graveyard-Cars-episode(aired 12/14/16) @ minute 50! This is a new episode. BTW love this show! It has Mark Worman delivering Bill Goldberg's 1967 GTX convertible.

It is the footage from post #31 (thanks, Bob) with narration from their "Dodge commercial guy" (sorry, don't know his name - but if you've ever heard a Dodge commercial, you know the voice). Talks about being able to see Russia from the U.S. and definitely SEEING the U.S. from Russia (the Challenger) up in Alaska. Ends with the tag-line; Domestic not Domesticated. Also mentions, this is the first all-wheel-drive muscle car! Pretty Sweet.
