This is a Grand Cherokee Laredo? 6 or 8 cyl? Try fuse #20 (red 10 amp) inside the vehicle at the left side dash.

With the 42RE transmission, the reverse/neutral safety switch is a 3-wire connector towards the rear trans housing on the driver's side. The outer 2 wires are for the reverse lights.
One is ign. power (+) in from the fuse and the violet wire is out to the rear lights.
