Ugh, right. The starting price of $60,000 threw me off then.It is called the Recon.

The glimmer of hope is that Recon goes after Bronco/Scout/FJ while Wrangler remains true to its roots.Ugh, right. The starting price of $60,000 threw me off then.
If they only make the Recon a BEV only, they are making a huge mistake.A Liberty/Cherokee as you described would probably be my next vehicle. As I’ve said before, I feel like Bronco illustrates what Liberty could’ve been…probably minus the removable top and doors. A good solid roof 4WD vehicle to complement Wrangler. I guess JKU took over some of that role with 4 doors, but not completely. Liberty with IFS was much more comfortable to drive than my TJ, and a better executed IFS would’ve made it more capable off-road.
Yup, if they had evolved the original Liberty, and added the 3.6 with the 8sp it would’ve helped tremendously IMO. The 3.7 V6 was underpowered, though having a manual made it somewhat more enjoyable for me, despite being sloooow. Lol.
I initially saw Recon being a possible replacement for my Liberty, but pricing and the fact that it will be BEV only are making it less desirable in my eyes…pricing perhaps more so, but I’m also not sure I’m ready to go full electric yet either.
There’s no indication that Recon will have an ICE version. If they only make the Recon a BEV only, they are making a huge mistake.
I’m guessing the reveal is at Easter Jeep Safari, but I haven’t heard anything about the refresh actually addressing the mechanical issues of JL.Speaking of Jeep, there are unofficial reports floating around that Wrangler’s long-awaited mid-cycle redesign opened for ordering three days ago as a 2024 model year.
Dealers were invited to an online internal presentation outlining all the changes to JL, but there has been no public announcement, no press release, no published photos, no reveal for youtubers, no official list of changes, nothing. Dealers are having to describe prospective buyers what this mythical redesigned 2024 Wrangler looks like using their hands.
After years of Wrangler customers waiting for a redesign, dealers are now in the strange position of waiting for customers to come in to place their orders...and waiting, and waiting...
The whole thing is just so bizarre.
Dealers have to use their hands to describe the 2024 Wrangler? If it were me, I’d use interpretive dance.Speaking of Jeep, there are unofficial reports floating around that Wrangler’s long-awaited mid-cycle redesign opened for ordering three days ago as a 2024 model year.

This is true. They only talk about the BEV. But that is not surprising given the backlash Toyota gets if they don't talk electrification every 2 seconds. There’s no indication that Recon will have an ICE version.

Why wouldn't it be possible to make an electric or PHEV version?Jeep’s response to Bronco ought to be the reintroduction of a Liberty/Cherokee with IFS, solid roof, traditional 4WD and QuadraCoil suspension.
There’s a lot of room in the Jeep lineup for something to bridge the gap between Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. It could share a frame with Ram Dakota. I’d seriously consider it as a replacement for my JL.
Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening in the current atmosphere fixated on electrification.
then it will never cross my driveway. There’s no indication that Recon will have an ICE version.
I guess they are. It’s called Recon. With a starting price of $60,000...Why wouldn't it be possible to make an electric or PHEV version?
That’s horrific news for Stellantis and with next to nothing coming down the pipeline for two of the most neglected brands in the automotive industry in Chrysler and Dodge.
Isn't that avatar "Excedrin Headache Number 969", from the old series of TV ads for the pain reliever tablets?Just look at my avatar... That sums up this thread!
I’m not convinced that they will only do a BEV version of Recon. Too expensive to develop vehicles these days to only do a niche product unless you can charge well north of $100k per vehicle. Tesla can charge a lot less due to using the same modular battery designs, motors, etc throughout their lineup. Recon SEEMINGLY wouldn’t have that advantage unless there is a massive BEV push including trucks and CUVs that could share not only power train but suspension components and get annual unit sales to somewhere north of 100k.I guess they are. It’s called Recon. With a starting price of $60,000...
My Grand Cherokee was ordered in September with guaranteed pricing. Came in a couple of weeks ago, saved the $1700 price increase and got an unexpected $3000 rebate. So, they are increasing rebates and offering special financing on pre-ordered vehicles?
Try to make up another story.
The Recon will undoubtedly be sharing electric motors and batteries with other vehicles within Stellantis. Tavares has made it abundantly clear that shared components are at the core of this EV push.I’m not convinced that they will only do a BEV version of Recon. I suspect there is probably a 4xe PHEV version being co-developed. Probably no straight ICE, but that’s just my guess based on the volumes we all know this industry requires for viable products.
The longer the term of the loan, the greater the hit on affordability high interest rates become. It’s a triple curse, high prices, higher interest rates, longer terms.Ram, Dodge, Jeep & Chrysler Can't Sell ANYTHING | Big TROUBLE This video discusses the problem. 8 years loans combined with rising interest rates have have made what some thought was affordable out of reach.
