Hello,
My wife now regrets buying the mini van we have now only because it does not have the power liftgate. Is it possible to add this feature of a mini van that only has the manual type? I have read on the internet that aftermarket units are available (you know that everything on the internet is true) but find it hard to believe. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Mark

I would think that one from a salvage yard would work fine and all the parts will be there.

I've been thinking about doint this also.

If this is a newer minivan, it wouldn't be easy. Even with a donor van for the necessary parts, the power liftgate is controlled by modules on the bus and wiring that may not be there. The TIPM would also have to be reprogrammed to accept the new option.
I suppose that a factory lift motor and arm could be fitted and wired to a hard up/down switch, but safety stops and lockouts would then be defeated and you don't want that.
Braun (or some other upfitter) may be the easiest way to go, but it will probably be somewhat pricey.

:frusty: Oh crap. I just came to the party! I thought the op was referring to a wheelchair lift gate, henceforth I posted the Braun link.
