If I check the transmission fluid pan with a laser thermometer, will that be accurate enough for measuring the fluid level? What is the normal operating temp of the tranny when at operating temperature when the air temp is around 90°? I changed my fluid about 3000 miles ago and I carefully measured the fluid I took out and filled the tranny. It read good based on the temp I took on the fluid pan and adding 10° assuming that internally the temperature is somewhat higher, but the level looks to be on the low side. I am having an occasional humming noise when coasting or on very light throttle that comes and goes. It just started it a few days ago, so I thought I would look at the transmission level to see how it looked. The car is driving and shifting okay. I will check for leaks tomorrow. Thanks for any advice. Can I check it cold after running it for a minute and be fairly accurate?
