Chryslers last stand

The coming few years will tell us if Chrysler will still be around.
The replacment of the 300 has to be a winner.
Its time to make the decision. Chryler will be the People mover and have cars to compete with toyota.
They have to have more then 2 models, they need a small suv and a midsize suv.

Well ONLY now that they may be able to afford to financially given shared at scale stla large ev and tech architectures: maybe it makes SOME tokenistic(?!) sense...after current slowdown/or worse:recession, say in 2025-2028. That is also the timeline for the 3 Lancia s in italy plus 3 4 other eu countries (uncanny parallel.)

It goes to show how incompetent Sergio was that he would utter those words "people mover" and his arrogance that would make him believe he would be taken seriously.
I wondered how long it would take for this post to show up.

I'm sorry, he may have saved Chrysler. But his later decisions, including canning the Dakota, have really hurt this company's ability to compete short term in several vehicle classes.

I don't know if using the Dakota as an example is fair to Sergio. The decline of the Dakota began long before he got there or could do anything about it. He had to stop the bleeding in a depressed market first. He had his hands full.

I think that the idea of a smaller pick-up truck is great. Dakota had lost its advantage. Fuel economy was about the same as a Ram.
Sergio may have made some mistakes, but he was a car-guy from Toronto. The American market has different needs than the European market.

Compared to where Chrysler was, who ran it before & where it was headed, Sergio was Golden, IMHO.

I’m still waiting for the ME four-twelve to be approved. Now they can use the 3.0tt with hybrid system!

When I say "people mover" I meant in more in mainstream priceing. We have to be compeative with cr-v and rav4
There’s no WOW factor in “people mover,” either. That’s precisely the problem with trying to use “people mover” as brand differentiator.

Sorry, but the entire industry laughed at FCA for that absurd branding.

A simple change of wording could have made this misstep into something, for example “moving people in style and comfort” at least would elicit some positive connotation. It would distinguish Chrysler’s brand direction from the function of an escalator.

Branding will be as important as the vehicle they create. I don't envy the lady in charge of it.

The ND was a stupid idea that got its deserving end. There was NO saving grace that should've been afforded to it.... including thinking that the money should've been spent on the 3.6/8 speed combo. It's the same thing Auburn Hills, the same one you all blast for incompetence daily, would've done.
Why that pipe dream keepings coming up in threads every so often is mind-blowing.
Throw in some wood panels and id put myself in debt for that.
I feel like if someone wanted the nostalgia that bad, getting a wrap shop to put wood grain on it isn't too difficult. The same could probably be done on Wagoneer.
That actually doesn't look too bad.
If you want to target old people who have the money, bring back woodgrain wagons like Buick.
Chrysler has been trying to lower their buyer's median age for decades.

Why? IMHO they were a step down from the models they replaced.

No, younger people do NOT "like" the things. They get them because they're cheap and plentiful.

It's kind of sad that Chrysler has no models anymore outside of the Pacifica, which is a great vehicle still.

Never understood why they didn't make an attractive crossover off of the Pacifica platform. Honda has 2 such vehicles based sharing the Odyssey platform. Honda Passport and Honda Pilot.

Its also too bad that Chrysler doesn't have a small and medium sized car or crossover.

The older Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger (based off the Mitsubishi platform) was an affordable option for young people or someone that wanted a smaller car, and was pretty reliable.

They came close on a couple occasions. There were even spy pictures.
One rumor had the minivan-based crossover going to Dodge and possibly replacing Durango ( thankfully that didn’t happen) and later the minivan-based crossover was a rumored addition to the Chrysler lineup along with a Chrysler version of the Grand Commander. That didn’t happen either.
So we are left with just memories of the original Pacifica which was a minivan-based crossover that was dropped because it was ahead of its time.
