clonking noise

hi guys i have a2004 gt turbo and i am getting a clonking noise when i shift the trany from reverse to drive or drive to reverse i have pulled the left side trany mount and seems ok the rubber and metal look ok some one suggested the left lower mount may be bad any suggestions to the fix the noise that only happens on those 2 gears any help will be appreciated

Welcome to Allpar. With a helper shifting between D and R and with the hood up, see if you can locate the noise source more closely. There may be excessive movement related to the noise.
Motor/transaxle mounts, exhaust system, axles and front suspension components all move slightly when shifting into gear. Something sounds loose or worn.

Front mount can do this.
