A company representative has confirmed that the Dodge Viper is to be dropped, confirming  a year of rumors . First, though, five special editions of the unique V-10 muscle car, with numbered plates, will be made.

To celebrate 25 years of the Dodge Viper, the company will produce:
  • The Viper 1:28 ACR, celebrating its track record at the Laguna Seca Raceway, will be black with red ACR stripes.
  • The Viper GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR, painted white with a blue stripe, to recognize the highly successful racing cars.
  • The Viper Snakeskin Edition GTC, in snakeskin green with a custom snakeskin-patterned SRT stripe.
  • The Vooodoo 2 ACR, in black, has a graphic metallic ACR driver’s stripe with a red tracer outline.
  • The Viper Dodge Dealer Edition ACRis a special edition for specific Dodge dealers.

The Dodge Viper was created largely as a test of how well the AMC platform design system could be used at Chrysler Corporation.  Even before the car was finished, work had begun on a new series of large cars that would spark  Chrysler’s 1990s renaissance .

No photos have been released yet. The last Viper is, according to a reliable source — unconfirmed by Dodge — scheduled to roll off the line in late August 2017.
