Maybe they should make a new Dart.

 

They're affordable and value loaded and can be fun to drive when equipped properly. The Dart GT that I bought almost 10 years ago is still a very competent vehicle and it has not trouble passing on the highway or going up hills or merging with the A/C on. If they brought back that sort of mid-sized sedan and it was "Dodgie" enough I'd probably buy one.

 

Dart was a good idea at the time & I'm surprised that it didn't do better. Finally, the return of something like a Neon!
I considered one, but went with the more comfortable 200 instead. Both have a sprinkling of Alfa-Romeo chassis dynamics & the Dart was a requirement of the governments sale of (what was left of) Chrysler to Fiat. The DDCT & early electrical issues didn't help the Dart reviews.

 

Back in 2014, I went to a dealer to look at a Dart. I liked it, but it was orange with red interior accents, which I thought was silly. After some overnight thought, I was really more interested in a 200.

I ended up coming home with a Jeep Wrangler.

Dart was handicapped by pushing the 1.4T cars first, and the better later powertrains should have been available at launch.

Yup, and every quarter it's the same news.

 

Once in a while some 'zombie' cars like Darts show up as sold in STLA-NA's sales records. As noted in the comments in the linked article, they were dealer owned cars, perhaps for family of owners, that were finally sold to an outside buyer.

 

How does one find these vehicles?
I wouldn't mind picking up a "new" Dart or 200.

 

At some point the dealer was likely “incentivized” to put the car into service as either a loaner or demo. It’s just odd they hung around in that status for so long.

 

Was it waiting for parts?
