Ouch. They hit it with the Lexus ugly stick.
The good news is those are all the parts that need to be removed when federalizing it to make it a Chrysler. On the plus side the interior looks way better and more integrated than most cars these days that look like a tablet got lodged in the dashboard during a hurricane.

It is actually closest to a Civic, Ioniq, Prius, Impreza or Clubman.

Interesting. Looks like everyone standardized on the same wheelbase there. No more than 30 mm off! I vaguely recall the Prius moving to the Corolla platform. Not sure if that's true or just my memory playing up.

I agree, replacing the front end jitters with Chrysler styling would do a great deal for it.

I chose the wheelbase as the comparison factor. I used carsalesbase's categories. Then I threw out the GLA and XT4 due to long wheelbases, carsalesbase had stuck them in subcompact SUV but they really belong in compact by wheelbase. Then I pulled NX and Corsair into my list, since they clearly belong in the subcompact SUV class by wheelbase. Here is my premium compact SUV list:

Height1,638 mm (64.5 in)1,658 mm (65.3 in)1,658 mm (65.3 in)1,676 mm (66.0 in)1,624 mm (63.9 in)1,611 mm (63.4 in)64.1 in (1,630 mm)1,648 mm (64.9 in)

I threw out some longer ones, because they have no business calling themselves compact when they are over 185" (new RDX included). They certainly wouldn't compete with the little DS4.

I guess you could argue that the GLA is subcompact by length while the NX and Corsair are compact by length, but there is no doubt the XT4 was misclassified as subcompact. I preferred the wheelbase as footprint is a more useful number than shadow which contains worthless overhang in many cases.

For the Wagons I didn't include HR-V and Soul since their wheelbases are so short, or A4 Allroad and V60 since their wheelbases are so long. For hatchbacks Venue was too short while A5/A7 were too long. I wanted vehicles that were valid comparisons with this DS4.

The 2000 Corolla was actually built on the '97 Prius platform, the '07 JDM Corolla was built on the '04 Prius platform.
The 2010 Prius was built on the '07 US Corolla platform.
The 2019 Corolla is built on the '16 Prius platform.

So only once was the Prius built on the Corolla platform, otherwise it has been the Corolla built on the Prius platform. Prius tends to get the new platform first.
