I have a 98 durango 318 auto 4x4,not sure which trans it is but it slipped from frist to second on my way to work this morning but seemed ok on my way home.Changed the trans filter and fluid atf+4 about 3 years ago with little mileage in between. mileage on car is 105,200. Does it have bands to ajust?

If you post your VIN someone here will find out which xmission you have. Once you know that you can find out whether what's going on is the fore or aft differential, etc.
