Does anyone know how to remove the trim that is in the center of the exterior of the rear passenger side door? (the black and silver piece going accross the doors on each side) I need to paint an area really close to that area and it would be much easier to paint if I could remove that piece first.

I'm not 100% positive but I think the trim is just installed with double sided tape... pretty sure that is the case.

You would probably need a plastic tool to pry it away from the body. Maybe a plastic putty blade from the hardware store would work well, one of the wide ones. You could just tape off the trim, but if you need to remove it I would think carefully using a putty blade to pry it away from the body would probably get it off without damaging it. To reinstall you'll probably need some new double sided tape. I know 3M makes a good selection of double sided tape for automotive use.

Heat will be a big help removing moldings that are stuck on like that.
