I have a '72 'Cuda with a Slap Stick shifter on the tunnel. I'm in the process of rebuilding my manual steering box and I saw on another forum that someone else was rebuilding their A Body steering column. Theirs has this bearing on the lower end of the tube and mine does not. Is my steering column supposed to have one? I'm a little confused because I'm not sure if it is only needed for column shift cars.

If not mistaken, it should be more like a teflon bushing that attaches to the end of the column to seal it. Look at some of the images on a search and that is what I see.
