I know that the retro-style 500 didn't sell well here, but that may have been from Fiat's past service reputation and not the "cute" look.
The VW bug and our PT Cruiser did well with both young and old.
French cars were always "quirky". The torpedo-style of the Citroën DS-series was something that appealed to me. It had practical and innovative safety engineering as well:



I don't mind wedge-shapes and angular lines, but at first glance, some modern body panel character lines look like the car was in an accident.

A review of the new C4.
To be honest, I like its singular design and is on my list for my future car (and certainly the electric version).
